Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping, torture, and assault of a Cape Town businessman, with the group reportedly demanding a R20 million ransom. The businessman was taken from his Summer Greens home on May 25, while his family was robbed of cellphones and cash by armed intruders.

The kidnapping involved seven armed suspects who demanded a significant ransom from the victim’s associates. Following a rescue operation conducted by the SAPS Anti-Kidnapping Task Team, the businessman was found tied up and injured in Saldanha on June 1. Brigadier Novela Potelwa confirmed that he was taken to a medical facility for treatment.
