The Nollywood community is in mourning following the untimely death of actress and filmmaker, Sharon Okpamen. Sharon, a prominent figure in the Edo entertainment industry, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2024.
Sharon’s death comes just a month after she gave birth to her second child. The tragic news was shared by her colleague, Stanley Ontop, who took to Instagram to express his sorrow and confirm her passing.
“Nollywood Actor and Producer Sharon Okpamen has unfortunately passed on,” Ontop announced in his post.
He continued, highlighting the impact of Sharon’s loss on the entertainment industry:
“It’s a sad day for Nollywood & the Edo entertainment industry. Sharon, who was a filmmaker, actress, entrepreneur & humanitarian, has left a significant void in the industry.
“May her soul rest in perfect peace, Amen @sharonokpamen.”
Sharon had recently shared the joyous news of her second child’s birth on July 31, 2024, through her Facebook page. However, following the delivery, she reportedly fell into a coma, a condition from which she sadly did not recover.
Sharon Okpamen’s death is a significant loss to Nollywood and the broader Edo entertainment scene, where she was respected not only for her work on screen but also for her contributions as a producer and entrepreneur.
