Prominent Maskandi musician Scebi Dlamini, known to his fans as Inkosi Yamagcokama, will be laid to rest on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at his homestead in Umsinga. The funeral service is scheduled to take place at the Fabeni Stadium in KwaDungamanzi following his death in a car accident on August 9, 2026, near Richards Bay.
The tragedy also claimed the life of one of his crew members, Gumu ‘Gupta’ Mchunu, whose own funeral was held at his homestead in Embangweni on Thursday. Two other crew members who were involved in the same collision were transported to hospital for treatment, according to reports confirmed by multiple media outlets.
Known for his contribution to the modernisation of the Maskandi genre, Dlamini maintained a strong connection to his rural roots in KwaZulu-Natal. The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture has paid tribute to his role in preserving the heritage of the art form.

I am one of the people who went to the scene of the accident and saw for myself that indeed Scebi and his crew member had passed on.”
