PRASA Opens Applications For 2026 Graduates In Training Programme

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) has officially opened applications for its 2026 Graduates in Training (GIT) programme, inviting recent graduates to apply for internship positions nationwide. Interested candidates must submit their applications by no later than 23 June 2026 to be considered for the intake.

Programme Scope And Eligibility

The internship initiative targets graduates holding a relevant degree or national diploma in several key technical and administrative fields. Specifically, the agency is seeking applicants with qualifications in mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering, as well as finance, risk management, safety, and property management.

To qualify, applicants must be South African citizens who have completed their studies in the designated fields. The positions are distributed across multiple PRASA regions, providing opportunities for graduates in the Western Cape, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Eastern Cape to contribute to the agency’s ongoing infrastructure and operational projects.

Bridging The Skills Gap In Rail Transport

The Graduates in Training programme serves as a structured workplace intervention designed to transition students from academic environments into the professional rail and transportation sector. By offering mentorship and hands-on technical experience, PRASA aims to bolster the employability of local graduates and address critical skills shortages within the organisation.

The initiative operates through various arms of the agency, including PRASA Group Capital and Intersite Asset Investments. Successful candidates will gain exposure to industry-standard practices, which is part of the agency’s broader mandate to revitalise rail services and infrastructure across the country. Candidates are encouraged to ensure all documentation is accurate before the June deadline to avoid disqualification during the selection process.
