AKA South African Rapper Shot Dead in Drive-By

According to police sources, rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was killed in a drive-by shooting at Florida Road on Friday night. AKA’s bodyguard was also injured. AKA’s close friend, however, was also shot to death.

The police in the province had not yet made any official comments on the murders. However, IOL independently confirmed the information from well-placed sources. They cannot be identified as they are not allowed to speak to the media.

AKA was seen standing outside of the Wish Restaurant when he was shot in the head during a drive-by shooting.

Two cars unknown are suspected to have set themselves on fire just before 10pm.

When an IOL team arrived on the scene Friday night, police had already established a perimeter around the area.

IOL was stunned to hear from nearby diners that AKA had been outside Wish at the time he was shot down.

Garrith Jamieson, a spokesperson of ALS Paramedics stated that Florida Road was closed after the shooting incident Florida Road in which two people were confirmed dead.

Jamieson stated that among the dead was a “famous” rapper.

Although the identity of this second victim is not known at this time, it is believed that he was a close friend to AKA.

AKA was scheduled to perform at YUGO in Durban as part of his birthday celebrations, according to social media posts.

Da Les, his close friend, posted a shock message on social media. Many celebrities and artists from South Africa have posted the “broken-heart” emoticons, suggesting that news may have filtered into their inner circle.

AKA was born in Cape Town, and rose to fame with the release of “Victory Lap,” his first album Altar Elgo in 2011.

His hit single “Fela In Versace” earned him a lot of attention in Nigeria.
