Wits Applicants Race To Check 2027 Status Online

Wits applicants can track their 2027 entries via the university’s Self Service Portal. The process has closed for most undergraduate programmes.

Checking Your Wits Application Status

Applicants should log in to the official Self Service portal to review status documents and correspondence. The system displays the status for each qualification separately, since many applicants apply for up to three programmes. Regular monitoring is advised because decisions can be issued in stages.

To check your status, follow these steps within the portal: open the site and sign in with your Wits number and password. Then go to Main Menu, select Self Service, open the Student Centre and choose Admissions, before clicking View Academic Application Status to view each qualification.

Using The Self Service Portal

Beyond tracking decisions the Self Service portal serves several functions. Applicants can upload outstanding documents, verify receipt of submissions, update contact details and view university correspondence. It also provides access to residence applications and the option to accept offers or amend programme choices where permitted.

Regularly checking Manage Documents is crucial because an incomplete application will not be considered. Possible outstanding items include Grade 11 results, Matric results, ID or passport copies, academic transcripts, and portfolio or programme specific documentation.

Understanding Application Statuses

The portal uses several statuses to indicate progress. A complete status means Wits has received the information needed to consider an application, but it does not guarantee admission. Final decisions depend on academic assessment, faculty selection and any additional requirements.

Other indications include provisional offers, firm offers, waitlists and unsuccessful outcomes. A provisional offer signals a place subject to conditions and final matric results, while a firm offer requires acceptance and registration by the deadline. Waitlisting means a place is not yet secured but could become available if space opens up.

What Happens After Offers

After a firm offer is issued, applicants must log in to Self Service to accept the offer, complete the student contract and meet financial requirements. Registration must be completed before the deadline stated in the offer. Wits emphasises that places are limited and only one firm offer may be accepted.

Acceptance alone does not guarantee a place; successful registration and verification of enrolment are also required. Waitlisted and provisional offers may still move ahead after final matric results in January 2027. For financing choices, applicants should check NSFAS or other funding options separately.
