Five Arrested During Tactical North West Police Operation Seizing Drugs Worth Over R350,000

North West police arrested five suspects in a tactical operation targeting drug trafficking in Klerksdorp and Khuma on 30 October 2026, seizing drugs valued at more than R350,000. The operation was conducted under Project Dubula, aiming to clamp down on drug-related activities in the region.

Captain Majang Skalkie, speaking to the media, confirmed the suspects face charges including dealing and possession of drugs. He highlighted that the operation recovered substances such as crystal methamphetamine, Mandrax, and tik linked to ongoing investigations.

One of the arrested, 35-year-old Ifegdu Chinedu, known as “Mike”, was connected to three separate drug cases registered in Klerksdorp. The remaining four suspects, aged between 21 and 45, appeared in the Stilfontein Magistrate’s Court on 29 October 2026, according to a local source.

The operation involved executing four warrants of arrest alongside four search-and-seizure warrants aimed at identified targets primarily in Khuma Township, near Stilfontein and Klerksdorp. These coordinated efforts follow a longer investigation reportedly initiated in August 2024 targeting suspected drug dealers in the area.

This recent enforcement exemplifies the sustained intelligence-led approach by North West police through Project Dubula to disrupt drug networks across the province. While SAPS regularly publishes operational updates confirming drug arrests in these communities, certain details, such as the full identities of all suspects and precise substances seized, remain unverified beyond two independent sources at this time.

Captain Skalkie stated, “The operation yielded significant results, with drugs including crystal methamphetamine, Mandrax and kat recovered or linked to the cases under investigation.”

Police investigations continue, and further updates on prosecutions and operational outcomes are expected. Cape Flats correspondent will monitor court proceedings and official SAPS statements related to this case.
