South African Police Service (SAPS) officials have launched an investigation into a murder and attempted murder following a shooting incident on Veld Road in Athlone, Cape Town. One person was killed and another was left injured after the attack, which occurred in July 2026.

Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk confirmed that the suspects responsible for the shooting fled the scene immediately after the incident. Authorities are currently searching for the perpetrators, and no arrests have been made at this stage of the investigation.
