War Enters Second Week As Strikes Intensify, Iran Stops Attacks On Arab Neighbors

The US-Israeli conflict with Iran has entered its eighth day.

Washington continues targeting Iranian military installations while Tehran responds with missile and drone strikes across the region.

President Donald Trump has ruled out accepting any negotiated settlement that falls short of complete capitulation from Tehran.

Trump previously dismissed suggestions of deploying American ground forces into Iranian territory, responding to warnings from Iran’s foreign minister that such a move would prove catastrophic for invading troops.

Regional Fallout Spreads Beyond Borders

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced a significant policy shift during a televised address. Tehran will cease striking targets in neighboring countries.

Pezeshkian offered formal apologies to regional governments and reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s commitment to respecting their sovereignty. The gesture appears designed to isolate the conflict and prevent wider regional escalation.

Israeli warplanes have expanded operations beyond Iran, pounding towns across southern and eastern Lebanon while striking densely populated suburbs in Beirut. The United Nations has raised alarms about deteriorating humanitarian conditions as civilian casualties mount.

Civilian Deaths Spark International Outrage

A devastating attack on a school in Minab, southern Iran, has drawn sharp scrutiny. At least 168 children perished alongside teachers and staff when the facility was hit.

The New York Times published analysis on Thursday pointing to probable American responsibility for the bombing. Fars News Agency reported additional strikes on two schools in Parand, located southwest of Tehran, compounding concerns about the protection of civilian infrastructure.

The cumulative death toll from US and Israeli operations has reached 1,332 since Saturday.

Trump suggested Washington might turn its attention to Cuba once hostilities with Iran conclude, hinting at potential future military entanglements without elaborating on specific timelines or strategic rationale.

Update: Iran Halting Strikes Aimed at Azerbaijan

Today, following indications of an imminent Azerbaijani attack, President Pezeshkian issued a statement of “apology” aimed at reassuring Azerbaijan that Iran will not strike neighboring countries—specifically Azerbaijan itself—unless it faces aggression from them.
The Armed Forces Spokesman promptly confirmed and reiterated this position, emphasizing that it applies to countries “we have not attacked and will not attack”—once again underscoring that Iran did not strike Azerbaijan. This clarification clearly does not pertain to the Gulf states, as Iran has already claimed responsibility for those strikes.
While Pezeshkian’s wording was confusing and could have been more precise, the statement was directed at Azerbaijan, not the Persian Gulf countries.
