President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran.
The American leader threatened devastating military action against the South Pars gas field, the planet largest natural gas reservoir, should Tehran continue targeting Qatari energy infrastructure following Israeli strikes on Iranian facilities.
Israeli forces launched coordinated attacks on Wednesday against Iranian installations within the South Pars field, a sprawling offshore complex spanning nearly 10,000 square kilometers in the Gulf waters.
The field contains an estimated 1,800 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and represents a critical economic artery shared between Iran and Qatar. Tehran responded by striking a Qatari liquefied natural gas facility and has since issued broader threats against vital energy infrastructure throughout the Gulf region.
Multiple international media organizations reported that Israeli military planners had coordinated the South Pars operation with American officials prior to execution.
A source familiar with the matter informed the Jerusalem Post that Washington had expressed greater willingness to accept attacks on gas infrastructure compared to oil facilities, suggesting a calculated approach to limiting broader market disruption.
Trump directly contradicted these reports through a post on his Truth Social platform on Wednesday.
The United States knew nothing about this particular attack, and the country of Qatar was in no way, shape, or form, involved with it.
He conceded that Iranian leadership remained unaware of this distinction, a misunderstanding that precipitated Tehran retaliatory strike against the Qatari LNG installation.
The president subsequently pledged that Israeli forces would cease further operations against what he described as the extremely important and valuable South Pars Field.
However, he delivered an unequivocal ultimatum to Iranian commanders regarding future aggression toward Qatari territory.
NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL on the extremely important and valuable South Pars Field.
If it were to attack Qatar, the US, with or without Israel, will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before.
Concurrently, Reuters reported that American defense planners are preparing to deploy thousands of additional troops to the Middle East theater.
These reinforcements could potentially secure the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz through coastal operations along Iranian territory or establish positions on Kharg Island, the facility responsible for processing ninety percent of Iran national petroleum exports.
Iranian diplomatic channels have formally protested the Israeli strikes through correspondence submitted to the United Nations.
Tehran specifically contested decisions by Qatar, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates to permit American military operations against Iranian interests from their sovereign territories.
The letters framed these arrangements as direct complicity in attacks against the Islamic Republic, further complicating already strained relationships between Gulf Cooperation Council members and their larger neighbor across the water.
