Police hunt suspects in Lentegeur triple murder and shooting

Police launched a manhunt after three men were killed and a woman critically injured in a shooting in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain, on 30 September 2026 at around 23:15. The attack occurred in Blombos Street, where officers found two men dead at the scene. The third victim was discovered dead in Eisleben Road after fleeing the shooters.

According to Western Cape police spokesperson Colonel André Traut, four armed suspects travelling in a white Nissan Almera with tinted windows approached the victims and opened fire before fleeing the area. The exact motive has not been officially confirmed, but police are investigating possible gang-related links.

“It is alleged that four armed suspects, travelling in a white Nissan Almera with tinted windows, approached the victims and opened fire before fleeing the area,” Colonel Traut said. The Anti-Gang Unit is leading the investigation, treating it as a triple murder and attempted murder case while following up on all available information.

Police are actively searching for witnesses and CCTV footage to assist the investigation. Members of the public have been urged to share any information through Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS app.

The Lentegeur shooting adds to a pattern of gang-related violence previously reported in parts of Mitchells Plain. While police suspect gang involvement, the motive remains under investigation, and no arrests have yet been made in connection with this incident.

Multiple independent sources including Daily Voice, CapeTownETC, and Cape Argus have corroborated the core facts of the shooting and police response. The confirmation comes solely from official Western Cape Police statements, with no on-scene reporters or community tips recorded in the sources so far.

This violent event continues to raise concerns about safety in Lentegeur and the broader Cape Flats region, spotlighting the challenges law enforcement faces in tackling gang violence.
