An off-duty female Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officer was arrested on Sunday morning, 28 June 2026, following the fatal shooting of a colleague during a domestic incident in Glenridge Extension 16, Soweto. The shooting, which occurred at approximately 03:30, claimed the life of another off-duty female JMPD officer amidst an escalating domestic dispute.
Investigation And Legal Proceedings
According to police reports, the suspect became involved in a heated argument with her partner and subsequently contacted a colleague to assist with transporting the girlfriend away from the property. As the colleague attempted to drive the woman away in a white Kia sedan, the suspect allegedly discharged her service firearm seven times at the moving vehicle.
