An off-duty Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officer has been arrested after allegedly fatally shooting a female colleague in Glenridge Extension 16, Protea Glen, in the early hours of Sunday, 28 June 2026. The incident, which reportedly occurred at approximately 03:30, has triggered a high-level investigation into the conduct of the officers involved.

Preliminary findings suggest the confrontation stemmed from a domestic dispute in which the deceased officer was allegedly called to transport the suspect’s girlfriend away from the scene. According to investigative reports, the suspect allegedly discharged his service firearm seven times at a white Kia sedan as it attempted to depart the location.
