Major Gulf Airports Seal Airspace Amid Escalation

Regional tensions have forced the closure of major Middle Eastern airports. The escalating conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran has triggered widespread flight cancellations across the Gulf region. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Qatar have suspended operations indefinitely, creating ripple effects for international travelers.

Airports Company South Africa confirmed that Emirates and Qatar Airways flights face significant disruptions at major South African airports. Passengers are advised to contact carriers directly for re-booking options and consult embassies where necessary.

Emirates Implements Contingency Measures

The Dubai-based carrier has temporarily suspended all operations until Tuesday afternoon.

Travelers can re-book alternative flights for travel on or before March 20. Refund options remain available through direct airline channels or travel agents.

“If you booked your flight with a travel agent, please contact them. If you booked with us directly, contact us.”

Passengers should verify operational updates before departing for airports to avoid unnecessary congestion.

European Carriers Adjust Operations

Air France has cancelled services to Tel Aviv, Beirut, Dubai, and Riyadh through March 3.

“Air France will provide further updates regarding its flight schedule to these destinations for the following days at a later time and reminds that the safety of its customers and crews is its utmost priority.”

Affected passengers may reroute under comparable conditions or request refunds for unused segments. The airline will provide complimentary meals, hotel accommodation where necessary, and communication allowances.

Lufthansa has extended its Dubai suspension until March 4, with additional suspensions to Tel Aviv, Beirut, Amman, Erbil, Dammam, and Tehran until March 8.
