Jay-Z and Diddy Named in Lawsuit Over 2000 Assault Allegations

NBC News has reported that Jay-Z, also known as Shawn Carter, and Sean “Diddy” Combs have been named in a lawsuit accusing them of raping a 13-year-old girl at a 2000 MTV Video Music Awards after-party. The lawsuit, initially filed against Combs alone, was amended to include Carter in October and refiled on Sunday in the Southern District of New York.

The plaintiff, identified only as “Jane Doe,” claimed she attempted to enter the after-party without a ticket by seeking help from limousine drivers outside Radio City Music Hall. According to the lawsuit, one driver, claiming to work for Combs, invited her to a party after describing her as fitting what

“Diddy was looking for.”

He later picked her up and drove her to a party at a white house with a U-shaped driveway, where she was allegedly forced to sign what she believed was a nondisclosure agreement and given a drink that made her feel woozy.

The complaint details that Combs and Carter later entered the room where the plaintiff was resting, and Carter proceeded to remove her clothes and rape her while Combs and an unnamed female celebrity were present. Both men are accused of participating in the rape.

Carter has responded to the allegations by filing a lawsuit against the accuser’s attorneys, labeling the allegations as “idiotic” and criticizing the legal team’s professionalism. He has also called for a criminal, rather than civil, complaint to be filed. Combs’s attorneys have dismissed the lawsuit as a publicity stunt aimed at exploiting high-profile individuals.
