The Gauteng Department of Education has launched investigations into 41 cases of alleged corruption within provincial schools. The probe, confirmed by Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane in June 2026, encompasses a range of financial and administrative irregularities that threaten the integrity of school governance.

“We are very concerned about the level of corruption in our schools. We are dealing with these cases and we will ensure that those who are found guilty are held accountable,” MEC Chiloane stated during a recent discussion regarding department oversight.
