SABC News separately confirmed the discovery, with police spokesperson Novela Potelwa stating that four men were killed and set alight in Du Noon and that the motive remained unknown.

Dunoon ward councillor Bulelwa Mayende told the Daily Voice that residents had linked the killings to alleged gang-rape activity in the area, with talk of women being targeted since June. She stressed, however, that she could not confirm the four burned men were connected to any such allegations.
