KwaZulu-Natal police confirmed the arrest of five suspects in connection with a robbery and attempted looting at a tuck shop in Hammarsdale on 30 June 2026. The individuals, aged between 14 and 27, now face formal charges of business burglary and malicious damage to property.

Law enforcement officials acted swiftly upon receiving reports of the incident, which occurred during a period of heightened security across the province. Speaking on the tactical execution of the arrests, KZN Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Robert Netshiunda stated that one suspect was apprehended inside the shop, while the remaining four were cornered while attempting to flee the scene.
