ChatGPT experienced a wave of complaints on Wednesday morning, with many users reporting they were unable to use the service just as the workday began.
The AI chatbot, which boasts around 700 million weekly active users worldwide and helps with everything from writing reports to planning vacations, appeared to be struggling to respond to prompts for some users.
According to Down Detector, more than a thousand outage reports were filed within a short time.
“ChatGPT isn’t responding to anything I type!” one frustrated user posted on X.
Another joked: “My work buddy is down. This is tragic.”
At this stage, it remains unclear whether the issue is affecting all users or only specific regions. Interestingly, tests by The Sun found the chatbot functioning normally in some cases, suggesting the problem might be isolated.
OpenAI’s official service status page still lists ChatGPT as “fully operational,” stating: “We’re not aware of any issues affecting our systems.”
