ActionSA has expanded its electoral slate in Limpopo, announcing a second group of mayoral candidates for key municipalities during an event held at the Bulamahlo Thusong Centre in Tzaneen on 11 July 2026. This latest announcement follows an initial candidate reveal in May, marking a sustained effort by the party to challenge the African National Congress in the upcoming 2026 local government elections.
Candidate List And Selection Process
The newly unveiled candidates include Dr. Mike Ramothwala for Greater Tzaneen, Ponani Makhubele for Greater Giyani, and Maripe “Mmirwaa” Mangena for the Mopani District. Rounding out the list are Reuben Mosila for Greater Letaba and Erick Mafanedza for the Makhado municipality.
ActionSA Limpopo Chairperson Victor Mothemela stated that the nominees were selected through a rigorous, competitive process. He emphasised that each candidate was chosen based on their professional expertise, integrity, and demonstrated connection to their respective communities.
Political Strategy And Provincial Outlook
The party aims to capitalise on growing public dissatisfaction regarding service delivery and infrastructure collapse within the province. Speaking at the announcement, party spokesperson Tshepo Magoma noted that ActionSA is prepared to address governance failures and restore accountability across Limpopo’s municipalities.
From Tzaneen to Makhado, ActionSA’s growth across these communities is a testament to the appeal of the capable, ethical and merit-based leadership we are committed to bringing to local government throughout Limpopo.
As the party continues to recruit from a diverse base including former officials from other political organisations, it is positioning itself as a primary alternative to the incumbent administration. Further announcements regarding the party’s full electoral platform and ward-level candidates are expected in the coming months as the date for the 2026 local government elections draws closer.
