Oudtshoorn Unveils Two Thousand Twenty Seven Study Assistance

Local residents in the Oudtshoorn area are invited to apply for the External Municipal Study Assistance Programme for 2027, aimed at supporting full time tertiary study.

Programme Overview And Purpose

The scheme offers financial support to eligible students who plan to pursue full time studies at an accredited tertiary institution in the 2027 academic year. It prioritises residents of the Greater Oudtshoorn Municipality, including nearby rural communities.

Eligible applicants are those who show strong academic potential and performance, with preference for historically disadvantaged individuals and persons with disabilities. The funding covers a single academic year and is restricted to full time study.

Applicant Eligibility And Qualifications

Applications are open to learners currently in Grade 12 and to those who have completed Grade 12 who plan to study full time in 2027. Applicants must be admitted or registered at an accredited tertiary institution.

Residents of the Greater Oudtshoorn Municipality and those living in rural areas within municipal boundaries are eligible to apply. The programme gives preference to historically disadvantaged groups and persons with disabilities.

Application Process And Requirements

Applicants must submit a fully completed application form with the required supporting documents. Documents must include a certified copy of Grade 12 certificate or results, proof of registration or admission at an accredited tertiary institution, a certified copy of identity, proof of residential address and proof of combined household income. If a criminal record check is already available it should be attached, otherwise proof that one has been applied for should be provided.

Application forms can be obtained from Oudtshoorn Municipality offices, municipal libraries and the Thusong Service Centre. Forms are collected during normal working hours between 07:30 and 16:30. Completed applications must be submitted by hand or by post to the designated officers.

Important Dates And Legal Notice

The closing date for applications is Friday 30 October 2026 at 12:00. Late or incomplete submissions may not be considered. Canvassing will result in automatic disqualification.

Applicants who are not contacted within 30 working days after the closing date may assume their application was unsuccessful. The programme is advertised under Notice 171 of 2026.
