Jabulile Ntimba, identified as the ninth victim in the ongoing Ekurhuleni killings investigation, was buried in her home village of kaMdladla, Nkomazi, Mpumalanga, on 26 September 2026. Her body had been discovered in an open area on Lama Street, Villa Liza, Dawn Park, Boksburg, on 17 September 2026, bearing fatal throat injuries.
The funeral drew a large number of community members, providing mourners the chance to pay their respects as the family sought closure following the traumatic discovery. Mandla Sithole, the family spokesperson, spoke after the service about the relief the family felt now that Ntimba’s resting place was marked.
“Now the funeral is over. We hope that our children, we are going to show them the grave. Because the children are too small, so they are supposed to grow up. When they grow up, they will ask, where is my mother? So actually, from today, I will show them that grave so that they can have the closure.”
Ntimba is reported to have left behind four children, her grandmother, and four brothers. The circumstances leading to her death remain part of an active investigation.
Two women, Fortunate Masilela and Tsakane Nester Msithini, appeared in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on 21 September 2026 facing charges of premeditated murder and obstructing the course of justice related to Ntimba’s death. They were remanded in custody until 1 October 2026. Meanwhile, a man initially arrested in connection with the case was released, according to court records.
Deputy National Police Commissioner Lt-Gen Tebello Mosikili said investigators had noted signs that Ntimba’s murder may have stemmed from a relationship, describing it as a possible love triangle. He clarified, however, that police have not conclusively linked this killing to the wider cluster of deaths under investigation in Ekurhuleni, and offered no confirmation of a serial killer theory.
“In Jabulile Ntimba’s case, it appears to be an indication of a murder that stemmed from a relationship. This describes the possible love triangle. That is what the team is picking up.”
Ntimba’s body was found partially clothed and wrapped in a sheet in Dawn Park, with the fatal throat injury noted by the police but without further verified cause of death details publicly released. Police investigations into this and other related killings are ongoing.
Though the links between these tragic deaths are still unconfirmed, the Ekurhuleni killings have cast a shadow over the area, with families and communities demanding clarity and justice. The case continues to develop, with court appearances and investigations scheduled in the coming weeks.
