The South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) officially launched a new campus safety forum in the Northern Cape on 20 July 2026. This initiative establishes a formalised partnership between law enforcement, university management, student representative councils (SRCs), and campus security services to combat rising crime levels affecting institutions across the province.
